Speaker drivers for 2 Watt and low watt amplifier

Does this You Tube video of the Blumenstien sound like the real thing? Very clear sound, though.

Speaker drivers for 2 Watt and low watt amplifier

Interesting "Boomer", but that *dash1* is there no way in this day and age for you to communicate how it sounds- maybe a video, maybe a close miked recording, or maybe a screenshot from a spectrum analyser? Play a piece of music through normal speakers and then the full range ones, record both...

Speaker drivers for 2 Watt and low watt amplifier

Those are some good looking speakers. Having listened to a single/midrange woofer I can see dimly as if through a veil, the value of having one speaker cover all the important frequencies, especially for vocals and acoustic intruments. They sell individual drivers for $30 which is an incredible...

Speaker drivers for 2 Watt and low watt amplifier

This SPL calculator seems to indicate that with ordinary 86 " dB SPL (1 W/1 M)" sensitivity speakers, I can get 77.2 "dB SPL at listening postion[/b]" of 9 feet with only 0.5 watt. If this is correct, then I have found the specs for my minimum system. This leaves me with a wider range of...

I want to get a Hi-Fi system for a 24ft by 24 ft living room

The requirement pretty much is 75 dB/W at 1m with audible low bass levels. The speakers have to be at ear level, which means wall-mounted speakers in my case. Hopefully once the appearance of these wall mounted black squares and the wall mounted amplifier rack is okayed by the powers that be, I...

I want to get a Hi-Fi system for a 24ft by 24 ft living room

I listen to Just music CDs. Popular music mostly. So should I trust my ears mostly to tell me what is accurate and sounds like real life sound?

Should we listen at 85DB SPL?

I guess you have to look out for the warning signs. Each person is different while some have superpowers. Does this work with speakers or for an orchestra... "you can simply point to someone you’d like to hear better in a room, and every other voice will fade away."

Should we listen at 85DB SPL?

Same article: "Subsequently, hearing protection treats different frequencies in different ways. This may be acceptable for many industrial workers, but is disastrous for many musicians. In the past 15 years, there have been a series of earplugs available that are ideal for listening to music...

Should we listen at 85DB SPL?

Is it just me or is it the signs of the times? I remember reading an article in the 80s where a several groups were asked to 'sing less loudly' as it was damaging to the hearing or environment. That set the stage in my opinion, that there was something very wrong with high listening levels...

Should we listen at 85DB SPL?

Figure 3 in the aforementioned article shows that all frequencies are percieved equally loudly at 70dB and varies little between 60-80 dB which also is the comfortable listening level. If we could get them to turn down the volume on live music we are done. But maybe live music is not supposed...

Should we listen at 85DB SPL?

75 dB sound pressure level at 1 metre is a very comfortable level, but it is best to be directly in front of the speakers. Bass levels are also rather low even with loudness on. So in his level. An equalizer (heretical?) may help. Of course the maximum comfortable levels are measured at the...

Thanks, got the image, now how do I use it?

    AK-699D low cost mini-ampifier

As I mentioned tried the AK-699D with those speakers. Sound was OK, higher end was a little distorted, however not wanting to damage those tweeters I stopped testing after a few minutes. The speakers nicely reproduced the almighty start up thump of the AK and the transformer hum. *mail1*

Should we listen at 85DB SPL?

Just came across this older thread that I missed. Good info. http://www.whathifi.com/forum/hi-fi/what-normal-listening-level Another forum: http://forums.naimaudio.com/topic/listening-level-in-db?reply=14660154292900927 And another with a poll...

Will check. Meanwhile these diagrams seem useful for describing stereo imaging 'directivity'?
