I am still getting grief from you know who about the potential clutter from my potential new vinyl system set up (cables etc) - and was thinking about the Dynaudio Xeo 6's - but it also feels counter-intuitive from an analogue source viewpoint - any views on what I would lose if I tried this...

Totally agree on the stunning looks of the latest Thorens, even my 16 year olds thought they looked amazing. (TD2015/35]. Has anyone any idea how they sound? Can you audition them in the UK?

Many thanks, I didn't realise the 78's would cause such an issue - Ive only ever played them on a Dansette! Ok, so lets exclude the 78s and imagine its just vinyl - does that change things?

I have put this under TTs because thats the only playback I want. I can't be alone, but have basically lost the battle to be allowed to have floorstanders (apparently they are 'clutter'). Anyway, I have a budget of £4/5k tops - all I want to do is play vinyl to the best quality possible nothing...

Without wishing to sound like an idiot - I have no idea! I have looked but it is obviously still the same original tonearm and cartridge but I don't know what they are.

I didn't have a fixed amount in mind, just wanted to get the best all round system within the budget. If we assume £5k then I guess the turntable could be up to £1.5/2k depending on other variables - but would welcome advice on that.
