    Speaker covers/grills.

Hmmm... I actually think it looks good, hence I never take the ATC metal grill off.

Too Many Upgrade Options - Please Help...

I owned Chord Hugo and have been using it for almost 8 months. I find the following: 1. I prefer not to use preamp for Hugo as Hugo volume control is still live even if you use it as Dac only. Rob Watts (Hugo designer) also recommends using Hugo straight to power amp. You can look it up on...

    ProAc Response D2 v Harbeth Monitor 30.1

I'm using Mac Mini as transport, Chord Hugo as DAC and preamp, and Musical Fidelity M6i with home theater bypass as power amp. I prefer using Chord Hugo as preamp to maintain integrity of the signal which sounds much better this way rather than using M6i preamp.

    ProAc Response D2 v Harbeth Monitor 30.1

The new ATC SCM40 is more detailed, open, and transparent. The Harbeth SHL5 has slight edge in the midrange and imaging. I own both and if I have to choose, I'll go with ATC SCM40.

    ProAc Response D2 v Harbeth Monitor 30.1

Try auditioning the new ATC range series (ATC SCM19 or SCM40). I own Harbeth SHL5 but find that ATC SCM40 is a much better speaker.

    Auralic Vesa & Dega??

Maybe you mean Auralic Vega (DAC) and Auralic Aries (Streamer)? There is a dedicated thread for Auralic Aries on the http://www.computeraudiophile.com/ forum.

Speakers to match with a Hegel

I've both ATC SCM40 MK2 and the old Harbeth SHL5, and my preference goes to ATC SCM40 MK2, which I think has a more neutral sound and is more suitable for wide range of music. However, for vocal oriented music, the Harbeth SHL wins slightly due to its better midrange. I usually switch to Harbeth...

    Chord Hugo

I think when setting up Chord Hugo as a home rig dac, it is beneficial two compare this 2 setup and see which one you prefer. 1. Chord Hugo -> preamp -> power amp -> speaker or 2. Chord Hugo -> power amp -> speaker IMO the number 2 method is preferable as Chord Hugo built in preamp itself is...

    Are Qobuz in difficulties?

I think the problem is they concentrate too much in european countries where the economy is not doing so well at the moment. I just joined Qobuz as well and I live in Indonesia. In order to subscribe to their streaming service, I need to contact Qobuz support and they will make my default...

Looks like there is something wrong with your QuteHD. I'm using Chord Hugo with macbookpro via USB and works fine.

    Chord electronics

I'm currently using Chord Hugo for my desktop system. The sound is amazing and I have no issue with connectivity. I bought it used and you can find many used ones in here: http://www.head-fi.org/f/6552/source-components-for-sale-trade.

Deathmetal Hi-Fi Extracting the most from your CDs or Streamers

+1 for Tellurium Q. I'm using Tellurium Q Black speaker cable and surprised of the improvement in my system (Krell S300i & Harbeth SuperHL5). Listen to Pearl Jam, Tad, Black Flag, Fugazi and love the improvement from TQ Black.

Which not bright sounding CD player with Exposure 3010S2 amp.?

I own Marantz CD6005 and listen to rock too. But yesterday I compare the CD6005 vs. laptop (using iTunes) feed to Beresford TC 7520 (bought used for less than USD150) and the result is laptop with DAC wins. With 1000 pound budget, I would rather buy a good DAC rather than CDP. Better and cheaper...
