Hi ISAC69, I have the MkI version which I bought in 2007. I agree with all you have said but I don't know how much better the MkII's are. What I love is the way they handle vocals, cymbals and acoustic music although everything sounds great to me. I listen 90% of the time now in the kitchen...

I would definitely get it repaired. I had one of those once and still regret selling it to this day.

Also take some songs that you've listened to a thousand times, that you really know inside out. This way you'll know if the demo does it for you. My 2p worth.

Yes a Dac Magic with mine. I remember it was quite an improvement for me. Can't remember how it helped now as it was lomg time ago. Hope this helps :)

Advise needed please, I want to connect balanced xlr to unbalanced xlr so simply put which type of cable do I use? Balanced or unbalanced?? Any help with wiring would also be appreciated as I intend to make my own cables. Thanks Andy.

I would just look for an amp with a similar watts per channel, it doesn't have to be exact. They will be fine together, by using a pre out, the av amp essentially become a source component for the second amp (I think that's correct) Set the volume on the second amp to about 2/3rd and then...
