Hi Simon Looks like Tannoys are good match for Onkyo TX 8050. I'm happy with my Eyris 3 floorstanders (they were designed as AV solution, but sings very nice). Tried also Dali Concept, but wasn't impressed. Take your time and try to audit speakers with your receiver before you buy.

Assuming you run Windows on your laptop.. Just put shortcut to Foobar in Start/Startup folder.

You may want to check in local CD store (yes, they still exists) :-) I bought my (non experience) for 10 € (think that experience was for 14). single CDs for 9 €.

I would second ThOm: from Meddle to The Wall (wall would not be my first choice between them), but I would add the Division bell and of course Piper at the Gates of Dawn. 2011 remasters are OK for me.

I use optical conection, as my players doesn't have the best DACs (old Yamaha and Philips). I've tried analog, but find sound with optical better. Like Mantas said: depends of your equipment.

Well, my onkyo TX 8050 is "all in one" solution, but there are separetes also. Logitech squeezbox is highly recommended as digital music player.

I think most of them are accepting URLs. If You are talking about software players, I'm using XMplayer mostly. Hardware: Onkyo TX 8050.
