Sorry maybe I didn't direct my question clearly . I only put forward my Yamaha AS-2000 as an example. The question was meant to be a general one. If I was thinking of going down that route it would be a separate pre/power combination of the same brand. My speakers are the current Mission 770's

Mixing different brand amplifiers, pre/power , Integrated amps using their pre amp section with a separate power amp etc. With brands having their particular house sound, how do you go about obtaining a synergy between products ? Using the same brand amplifiers seems the logical approach ...

Thank you Nopiano for the post on speaker break in. It wasn't a concern of mine as I've noticed the change in previous speakers I have acquired . It was a general question of other peoples observations, which the supplied post seems to answer quite thoroughly from the manufactures point of view.

Very good for its age, having the advantage of setting the recording levels enhances the sound. Have great fun taking favourite tracks from my large collection of vinyl and CD's with satisfactory results.

I've just had my Akai 4000DB reel to reel tape recorder resurrected after many years in storage . Its been stripped down cleaned and serviced. Still sounding very sweet and clear. Anyone else who may be interested in the subject or with a past history of reel to reel ?

Has anyone had the opportunity to hear these interesting looking speakers ? They seem to have very good reviews from the majority of reviewers . Strangely they don't seem to have too many stockists here in the UK .
