The cables are visually in mint condition, and the spades are factory terminated. But I’ll check for any loose endings. I’m not sure, but the spades seem to be solder types. Have to remove shrink tube to be sure
The speaker cables are connected correct, so no phase issue. Also tried them with another Hifi-setup today, and same thing happened. Loss of bass.
Will check for faulty plugs/spades. I think they are soldered (original factory terminated spades)
Speaker cable loss of bass
A friend of mine has the Diablo 300 with Sopra 2 speakers. When using 2 m speaker cable length (€5k cable) sound is good. When using 3 m speaker cable (same make and model) most of the bass is lost.
This is not a tiny difference - it’s night and day
We switched back...
I have two subs in my home cinema. One at each side of the sofa, facing the mains with about 3 meters distance.
My current phase setting is 0°, but I read somewhere that it could be better with 180° when mains and subs are facing each other
I know phase should be set where you achieve the most...
Comparing my Bel Canto to a iFi would be interesting indeed. And a more fair comparison.
If I decide buying a new DAC some day, I’ll surely compare them. But most likely I will consider a Hifi Rose RS250, and with that my current streamer will be redundant.
Thanks 😊
All the music was streamed with Qobuz. Some of the tracks are 44/16, but some hi-res also. The same track version for both DACs.
HifiBerry supports up to 192/24, same as Bel Canto. But the latter is limited to 96/24 while using USB. Didn’t think of that while performing the test, but I...
The quality/price difference was, as I wrote in the description exactly why I wanted to do this. Of course I was certain this was an unfair test, but what if I was mistaken? Was it possible that I could like the HifiBerry better? The DAC2HD is also new compared to the Bel Canto. And these were...
Hm. That’s a room with limitations, yes. But if you don’t mind refurnishing, you could try moving the stereo setup to the opposite wall. You will get a little less space, and perhaps achieve some more intimacy in your music. Not sure about this, but you could by that also eliminate most of the...
That’s almost like my room then 😊 my speaker are very different from yours, but I do have a very nice and deep soundstage. I doubt my speaker placements could be beneficial to you, but I´ll upload a jpeg of the placement. I used REW software Room sim first, and after that I adjusted toe-in. I...
Your electronics should not be an issue, as they seem to be good quality, yet I’m not familiar with the brands. Some say interconnects can affect soundstage, but speaker placement does more without a doubt. A friend told me that speaker distance to back wall should never be the same distance as...
I guess your room will decide some of the imaging.
How close to the front wall are the speakers, and how close is listening position to back wall.
There could be other reasons. as you had same problem with your previous speakers.
I just did a review of two DACs, and one noticeable difference...
Comparing HifiBerry DAC and Bel Canto DAC
I decided to do this comparison during a -30° celcius weekend.
Sitting in sweet spot, looking at the warm tubes in my amplifier, and listening to music was my best idea of spending the weekend
This is not a technical comparison, just my listening...
