Everyone on this forum hears differently than you. You're the only one that can make the best choice that's right for you. Why not consult with some local audio shops and find out what's possible with your budget of $2500-$5000?

Probably wouldn't achieve anything with regards to you and your distain for radio as you have already elequently stated that you've parted with your Creek tuner many moons ago...

I own and use regularly a ReVox B780 receiver for radio and tape playback. I also own and use 5 McIntosh tuners: MR74, MR75, MR77, MR78, & MR7083.

I have 2 setups: Analog All Solid State & Digital All Tubes except for my tuner. To me digital sounds better with tubes as it smooths out any digital harshness very nicely. Just my opinion.
